Through a grant, the Lafayette Fire Department was given hundreds of fire alarms specially designed for the deaf and hard of hearing and needed a way to get this information out to the public.

Created a multi-faceted campaign promoting free specialized smoke alarms for the deaf and hard of hearing in Lafayette Parish. Managed public service announcement, television interviews, print advertisements, billboards, mailers, press release, and social media marketing.

Result: 350 alarms installed at no cost to recipients

LAFAYETTE, La. (LCG)- The Lafayette Consolidated Government program that offers free deaf and hard-of-hearing smoke alarms to Lafayette Parish residents is being extended until September 2021.

Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Department of Community Development secured a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant last year which provides the Lafayette Fire Department with specialized smoke alarms to protect those vulnerable to a fire or escaping a fire.

Beginning in January of this year with the help of FEMA’s Fire Prevention and Safety Grant, the Lafayette Fire Department (LFD) began offering smoke alarm systems designed to alert eligible deaf and hard of hearing City of Lafayette residents of a fire.
